Randy Orton still out indefinitely posing questions for SummerSlam 2021

WWE Raw Superstar Randy Orton has been missing for weeks now potentially putting his tag team partnership with Matt Riddle on hold for SummerSlam.

The tag team is scheduled to face WWE Raw Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Omos, but Orton has been missing from WWE TV for a long while now.

As per the Fightful, the news is that there is no assurance of his return saying: (h/t GMS)

‘There were creative plans in place for Orton and Riddle through Summerslam, but the unforeseen circumstances of Orton’s absence required an audible be called.”

According to sources, initially, he was put on the disabled/inactive list, but the real reason of his disappearance has been kept secret.

Orton and Riddle were slowly becoming a fan favourite, with the duo using each other’s finishing moves and entrance songs. This would be a big dent for SummerSlam, which could signal a major change in WWE. Riddle, who has been riding solo since then has participated in the Money in the Bank match, but has no substantial booking.

The rumors also suggest that Orton will return by the August 2 episode of Monday Night Raw next month after missing the last four shows.

Will AJ Styles and Omos face the Viking Raiders at SummerSlam?

With the initial plans seeing a potential hijack, the creative team may turn to the Viking Raiders to contend for the titles on August 22. They have been battling Styles and Omos in singles action for consecutive weeks and look set for a potential title clash.

The problem would lie when Orton returns and if there would be enough time to add the initial plan back into the match card. We will wait and see the progress of Orton who has been crucial in the Tag Team division for more than two months now.
