Raquel Gonzalez returned this week on NXT 2.0 and took out Toxic Attraction in unison with an old ally.
This week on NXT 2.0, Toxic Attraction stole Wendy Choo’s belongings. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne, who are the NXT Women’s Tag Team champions, came to the ring alongside the NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose. They emptied Choo’s belongings and said that there is no more competition for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. Dolin and Jayne said that they had defeated everyone in the division and there was no one left to challenge them.
Dakota Kai rushed to the ring to take on the three of them but the numbers game wasn’t in her favor. All of a sudden, Raquel Gonzalez‘s music hit and she came to the ring to take out Toxic Attraction with help from Kai. Gonzalez offered a handshake but Kai pushed her hand away and jumped on her giving her a big hug. This moment was given a huge pop from the crowd in attendance.
Kai and Gonzalez picked up the NXT Women’s Championship belts that Dolin and Jayne had left behind. The reunited team celebrated with the titles, much to the dismay of Toxic Attraction. The two women will take on Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
The 31-year-old has had an impressive career on WWE’s developmental brand – NXT.
Gonzalez made her in-ring debut on January 20, 2017, in a 12-woman battle royal which she failed to win. She was wrestling under her birth name Victoria Gonzalez back then. She competed in the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament where she lost in the first round to Nicole Savoy. The talented superstar participated in the tournament under the ring name Reina Gonzalez.
She had to wait for a few years to get her first televised appearance since the Mae Young Classic Tournament. In 2020, at NXT Takeover: Portland, she came with the ring name Raquel Gonzalez where she interfered in the street fight between Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox.
Since then, Gonzalez hasn’t looked back. She won the inaugural Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2021 with Dakota Kai. Their team went on to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Gonzalez’s biggest win as far as the singles competition is concerned, came against Io Shirai at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. With the win, Gonzalez became the NXT Women’s champion. Her reign lasted 202 days as she lost to current champion Mandy Rose at NXT: Halloween Havoc in 2021.
