Gillberg made a surprise return to WWE RAW this week alongside David Krumholtz
The Miz and John Morrison promised fans that they would have Goldberg on this week’s Dirt Sheet. However, it was Gillberg that showed up on WWE RAW after a long time away from the promotion.
Duane Gill was assigned the moniker ‘Gillberg’ back in 1998 as a way for WWF to take a dig at WCW wrestler Goldberg.
It is a bit that has gone on for nearly 23 years now as Gillberg once again graced the arena this week. Drew McIntyre and Goldberg were supposed to appear on the show.
But, McIntyre testing positive for Covid-19 is probably why WWE decided to add this segment to RAW. Nevertheless, David Krumholtz, who came as Drew McInfart, and Gillberg, both entertained massively on the show.
Fans were more excited to see Gillberg, who had made a come back to the ring after recently suffering a heart attack.
One such fan of his inside the arena that day was Matt Riddle. The WWE star posted a tweet with a photo alongside Gillberg and even took a dig at Goldberg.
He stated that Gillberg is 10 times the man Bill Goldberg could be, and wrote that he is his ‘bro’.
Riddle and Goldberg have a bit of a rivalry over the years, and it seems the Bro won’t stop taking shots at the former WCW star.
Gillberg captured the hearts of a lot of fans as well as wrestlers after his surprise appearance on RAW. He had another great moment backstage with Sheamus and David Krumholtz, which the Celtic Warrior later shared with the WWE Universe.
Parodies aside, the actual match between Goldberg and Drew McIntyre for the WWE Heavyweight Championship is still on track to take place at Royal Rumble on January 31st.
