WWE referee Charles Robinson went on a podcast to share a hilarious story about Lex Luger from his WCW days
Speaking on the After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves, current WWE SmackDown referee Charles Robinson talked about the extraneous duties of a WWE referee and took a moment to share a humorous story about the legendary Lex Luger.
When asked about the supplementary duties of a referee, Robinson cited an instance where he was asked to hand meal tickets at Universal Studios to WCW wrestlers backstage.
Robinson recalled going up to the then WCW wrestlers Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell and handing him their assigned meal tickets, to which Lex Luger replied: “I’m Lex Luger, I don’t need a meal ticket.”
While Robinson did not display the best Luger impression you would see, it certainly helped us in imagining the scenario a bit better.
Here is an excerpt from the After the Bell WWE podcast which featured Robinson:
Luger was one of the most popular wrestlers, working with several top promotions such as WWF, WCW, and TNA and winning various titles such as the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, which he won twice.
While being a professional wrestler with the World Wrestling Federation from 1993 to 1995, Luger returned from retirement to rejoin WWE in 2011, but this time as a backstage employee.
Luger joined WWE in 2011 to work on their Wellness Policy, a role where he is still active.
Robinson, meanwhile, is still a professional WWE referee. He has been made the senior WWE SmackDown referee this year after WWE released veteran Mike Chioda in April due to Covid-19 budget cuts.
