Referee Jake Clemons is one of many NXT personnel released by WWE today. Here are all 8 of them:
WWE decided to axe 8 NXT superstars and referees in their latest batch of releases. This comes after the company released a number of stars like Samoa Joe and Mickie James from their contracts just last month.
This week’s list exclusive contains NXT talents. Referee Jake Clemons, who was signed by WWE from Evolve last year, is one.
The other NXT referee let go by the company is Drake Wuertz. Clemons even posted a message of thanks to everyone on his Twitter account following the news.
Wuertz has been problematic to deal with for the company recently, with recent reports even mentioning that his questionable behaviour started to trouble NXT talent.
The other names on the chopping block were NXT stars Alexander Wolfe, Kavita Devi, Jessamyn Duke, Vanessa Borne, Skyler Story, and Ezra Judge.
6 other stars apart from WWE NXT referees Jake Clemons and Drake Wuertz released
Wolfe was ousted by his stable, Imperium, just a day before the news of his release but his contract apparently expires only on June 15th.
All the other names were going to be axed sooner or later because of the lack of activity for the bunch of them.
Kavita Devi was perhaps the most famous out of the rest of the bunch because of her WrestleMania 34 appearance in the Women’s Battle Royal.
She hasn’t competed in a single pro wrestling match in almost two years. As for Wolfe, his absence would perhaps be felt the most out of all eight.
After being banished by Imperium, it was felt that he would align with former SAnitY member, Killian Dain- After all, it was his refusal to attack him multiple times that led to Imperium’s growing doubts about him.
