Why did Renee Paquette ask for WWE release five years ago?
Renee Paquette was an integral part of the WWE backstage and broadcasting world, Paquette left the WWE back in 2020 and had been with the company since 2012. She was recently speaking with Ariel Helwani where she opened up about the fact that she almost left the WWE five years ago.
Paquette said:
“Probably about five years ago, I had asked for my release from WWE and I wasn’t granted it. This was before I did commentary, this was before I did a lot of other things. And I’m glad I didn’t leave at that point, I’m glad I wasn’t granted my release because my resume wouldn’t be what it is today if I had left during that point. I kept feeling like I was hitting a wall of being told ‘you cannot be a star within this company.”
Paquette talked about how she felt like it was probably right that her release was not granted at that point. She even opened up on the fact that she felt like she was hitting a wall with not further room for growth within the company.
“I was just unhappy in the sense of just knowing that I had more to offer. I loved having the subtle reactions to a heel or babyface. And being able to help those storylines along anyway I could through that. But there wasn’t that other thing for me to sink my teeth into.”
Paquette also mentions how she loved being a slight part of the storylines during her time in the WWE but always felt like she had more to offer beyond it. Paquette has now been gone from the WWE for over a year and has continued to grow her own podcast.
Will Renee Paquette join AEW?
Paquette revealed earlier that her non-compete with the WWE has expired. This means she can move ahead and join any other promotions if and when the opportunity arises.
She also kept the idea of going to Bloodsport and fighting almost everyone, Paquette also talked about how she can even join AEW. The former WWE broadcaster is aware that AEW is growing rapidly and she could perfectly fit in the company.
There has been no further updates on her future as of yet, however, you can expect to be back in the professional wrestling world soon. For detailed coverage on this, check out: Renee Paquette open to joining AEW as non-compete ends
