WWE had told stars to discontinue using their Cameo profiles and Retribution member Reckoning wasn’t having any of it
Mia Yim or Reckoning from Retribution continued the faction’s war against WWE and some of its practices.
One of the major talking points coming out of WWE was the end of using Cameo profiles and third party outlets.
WWE didn’t want their stars using their wrestler names in these third-party outlets and told them to end their accounts within a month or so.
This is a huge blow to many stars as Cameo and outlets like YouTube allow them to earn more money apart from their wrestling gigs.
This also enabled them to get closer to their fans and it led to some amazing channels such as UpUpDownDown.
It will be interesting to see what is next in this war but Reckoning took a swipe at WWE. She called out the company for taking this decision:
Yim also shared a funny video of what WWE does when it learns about a Cameo profile, and it is pretty accurate.
The decision from Vince McMahon to control Cameo profiles did come as a bit of a surprise. Many top stars such as Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks had already spent time on their accounts.
Further, many of them are streamers on Twitch and YouTube, and this cuts off a source of income for them.
Reports suggested this was part of a plan to restructure WWE and how its talents work on third-party apps. However, there hasn’t been much said about what the future holds for them ever since.
AEW and many other promotions allow their stars on these outlets. Miro and other AEW stars have also hit out at WWE and it fits into the Retribution character when its members also call out the promotion.
