WWE SmackDown Superstar Rey Mysterio reveals plan to feud with son Dominik

Rey Mysterio has revealed that WWE writers planned to put the father-son duo in a feud storyline on WWE SmackDown.

After developing a chemistry, the decision was taken to make them a tag team on the blue brand. The decision paid off after they won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Mysterio speaking to UK Metro says:

“We actually talked about this a while back, when my son started to train. The more and more we got to spend time together in the ring and outside of the ring, it came to the point where me and my son were like, there’s no need. The connection here is so beautiful, the love – more than father and son, I think we’re like best friends. For the moment, there’s no time for us to even be thinking, ‘how would it be like to face each other?”

Mysterio also spoke about how great the feeling was to wrestle with his son, before retiring. Winning the tag titles was certainly something great for the father-son duo, and it made sense that they did not face each other.

Mysterio will be looking to begin a title reign with his son on the blue brand but face fierce competition from other tag teams on the roster.

Rey Mysterio back in singles WWE action?

Mysterio was also given a push in singles action being pitted against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Reigns recently faced Rey Mysterio in a WWE Universal Championship match on SmackDown. This was also the first ever Hell in a Cell match on SmackDown.

However, the high-flyer ended up losing the clash to Reigns. It was also interesting that Mysterio’s son, Dominik, was not seen during this match.

The youngster has been out of action since Reigns tossed him outside the ring during a tag clash. This could mean more singles action for Mysterio, and that wouldn’t be a bad thing.
