Charlotte Flair has a shot at the title against Rhea Ripley at WWE Hell in a Cell PPV next month
This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW saw Charlotte Flair continue her push for a shot at the WWE RAW women’s title.
For the last couple of weeks, ‘The Queen’ has knocked again and again on Rhea Ripley’s door for a title shot. She finally got it at WrestleMania Backlash, but was unsuccessful.
Flair took on the champ and Asuka in a triple threat match, with ‘The Nightmare’. On the 17th May episode of RAW, Charlotte worked towards dismantling Asuka.
It seems like the Japanese is out of the title picture now as this week’s RAW set up a Hell in a Cell match between just Ripley and Flair for the title.
‘The Nature Girl’ set up Ripley in a Beat-the-Clock match against the returning Nikki Cross, which the Australian champion failed to do within the stipulated 2-minute mark.
And this set up a title date for the two on the PPV scheduled to take place on June 20th in Tampa, Florida. Ripley then took to her Twitter account to share her reaction for ’round 2′ between her and Flair.
It is unclear if the match takes place inside the cell. Not all matches on the PPV take place inside the unforgiving cage, but if they do, Flair might have an advantage.
After all, she was involved in the first Hell in a Cell match for women in 2016 against Sasha Banks.
Nevertheless, Ripley seems to be billed as a strong champion and doesn’t seem like she will lose the belt so soon. WWE can, however, go to a recent tactic they have been adopting.
Rematches right after the PPV have become common, so Ripley can lose and then regain the title next day. This is what makes the match interesting because it is unclear which direction WWE Creative wants to go with this storyline right now.
