Rhea Ripley angry with the relationship between Charlotte Flair and Sonya Deville
Sonya Deville has had a bit of a character switch in the past few weeks. It all started when Charlotte Flair was suspended and fined for beating up a referee on WWE RAW after losing to Asuka.
Adam Pearce announced an indefinite suspension and fined her $100,000. But just the next week, Flair was let in the building by Deville, who lifted her suspension.
And since then, Charlotte has had that almighty push from Deville to go for the RAW women’s title that currently lies with Rhea Ripley.
Since her return, she has fought Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke. Flair beat Brooke on this week’s RAW, which saw Deville come out to the ring.
Charlotte made a case for herself to be in the RAW women’s title match with Asuka and ‘The Nightmare’ at Backlash. And this was a wish that the power-wielding Deville granted without hesitation.
And speaking about that incident on RAW talk this Monday, Rhea Ripley voiced her concern over Flair and Deville’s relationship and how the latter is favouring The Queen.
“Yeah, damn straight. Reckless is the perfect word. Sonya’s not thinking. She’s just acting. I don’t know if Charlotte’s talking to her on the sides, slipping her some money, since she is the Queen… I don’t know. But Sonya’s been handing Charlotte everything that she wants and I don’t agree with that. I don’t agree with it at all. If you put your hands on the referee- that’s not how it works here. Like, you get suspended, you get fined. To see her come back the next week That angers me.”
That should anger her, not just because she has to be angry about it for the sake of the storyline, but also because WWE just can’t seem to take a hint. The fans are tired of seeing Flair being inserted into a title shot time and again.
While they may have tried to avoid the awkward confrontation with that fact by making Charlotte embrace being ‘The Opportunity’ as a part of her personality, the fans are still not impressed by it.
People would have preferred Flair seeing some time on the bench in the way Sasha Banks is on SmackDown. But then again, it could also be because Ripley has not really looked like the perfect champion so far and they want her to develop further through more screen-time with Charlotte.
But there is one thing we know for sure, wrestling fans will be incensed if Flair ends up winning this match at the PPV alter this month.
