Rhea Ripley was scheduled to face Bianca Belair for the latter’s RAW Women’s Championship at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view. The Nightmare became the no. 1 contender after defeating Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, and Doudrop in a fatal 4-way match.
This week on RAW, Bianca Belair came out to the ring to begin the show. She announced that Rhea Ripley is injured and won’t be able to recover in time to compete at Money in the Bank. Fans were curious to find out what happened to the Australian star.
Dave Meltzer speculated that she might have been withdrawn from the pay-per-view because she had tested positive for Covid-19. However, he went on to add that Ripley would have recovered in time for Money in the Bank.
Meltzer also mentioned that Ripley might have suffered a concussion that took more time than expected to heal. Another possibility noted by Meltzer was that the talented superstar might be nursing a knee injury. Meltzer eventually said that there was no concrete update that could confirm the actual reason behind Ripley not competing at Money in the Bank.
Ripley recently replied to a comment from one of her fans on Instagram. The fan commented on a photo of Ripley on Instagram and said the 25-year-old wrestler did not look injured.
Ripley replied: “brain/teeth. Can’t see a brain injury. Stop being incompetent and reaching at nothing”
The former RAW Women’s Champion had posted a picture earlier this month where her front teeth were held by a metal wire. This was caused by a knee that she took during one of her matches. Maybe that injury has aggravated and it is keeping Ripley out of action for now. We hope she recovers soon and makes her return to the ring.
Rhea Ripley versus Bianca Belair would have been a match to behold. Both women are known for their impressive strength. The EST will now face another former world champion at Money in the Bank.
Rhea Ripley had been on a roll since joining The Judgement Day. She had been dominating her matches and decimating her opponents in the process. A match at this point in time with Bianca would have been a tough one to predict. The EST of WWE is one of the most popular female wrestlers in WWE at the moment. However, with the kind of momentum that The Judgement Day has built, a loss to Ripley would have been a huge setback for the group. Would not have been easy to give a loss to either woman. Now that Ripley has been ruled out, WWE has already found a replacement.
This week on RAW, a Fatal 5-way match was announced by Bianca Belair. The winner of the match would replace Rhea Ripley as the no. 1 contender for Belair’s RAW Women’s Championship.
The wrestlers who took part in the match were Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Becky Lynch, Asuka, and Carmella. Eventually, it was the Princess of Staten Island, who won the match.
Carmella is a former SmackDown Women’s Champion and would be aiming to win her second world title in WWE. However, it’s unlikely that Belair would drop her title at this point to Carmella. Maybe WWE is looking at Carmella as an opponent that can push Belair to the limit before someone like Alexa Bliss or Rhea Ripley can regain the RAW Women’s Championship in the near future.
