Rhea Ripley is all set to take an Asuka at WrestleMania 37 but it could have happened before
Last year, just after the Women’s Evolution week, the current WWE RAW women’s champion, Asuka, stated her desire to have another all women’s PPV event.
And she said she would like to face Rhea Ripley at that event, if she ever got the chance. Ripley quoted the tweet and mentioned how she always wanted to face Asuka.
Now, a year after those comments, the two finally have their match-up at WrestleMania. It really has been a long time coming.
And the former NXT and NXT UK women’s champion is all set to take part in her second WrestleMania match of her career.
The match will be for the RAW women’s championship, a title that the Japanese superstar has held for a while since she won it at SummerSlam 2020.
Ripley made her much-awaited appearance on RAW earlier this week after Asuka beat Peyton Royce in her singles match.
And she challenged her for the belt at the greatest wrestling stage of all in April. But that has come after Charlotte Flair has tested positive for Covid-19.
She is currently in self-isolation and is likely to be a miss in the event. However, there is still a chance that ‘The Queen’ makes a comeback.
He fiance, Andrade, tweeted that Flair has just 4 days of recovery left and is still in the running for making the WrestleMania 37 poster.
While Flair is a big name in the industry, a match between Asuka and Ripley will be something new and refreshing for the fans to see, and a great launchpad for the latter.
