Charlotte Flair created history at TLC 2020 by becoming Grand Slam champion
Charlotte Flair became only the 4th Women’s Grand Slam champion in WWE history when she won the tag team title match at TLC 2020.
Asuka had earlier been left without a partner for the title match after Lana was pulled out by WWE from TLC 2020 due to a kayfabe injury.
Many fans believed that this created an opening for Charlotte Flair to return to the promotion. She had been off the screens for over 6 months due to an elective surgical procedure.
Flair was ultimately announced as Asuka’s partner for the Women’s Tag Team Championship match at TLC 2020 against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
The match exceeded the expectations and proved to be much more exciting than it seemed on paper. Charlotte hit Baszler with the Natural Selection to pin and secure a historic win at TLC 2020.
This made ‘The Queen’ only the 4th women in WWE history to become a Grand Slam champion, behind only Asuka, Bayley, and Sasha Banks.
The win also made WWE RAW Women’s Champion Asuka this year’s third double-champion after Bayley and Sasha Banks.
Ric Flair was on hand to congratulate his daughter’s achievement at TLC 2020. The ‘Nature Boy’ took to Twitter to post a congratulatory text for both Asuka and Charlotte on their historic title win.
He exclaimed that this win was his “ultimate” Christmas gift and announced that the Queen “is back”.
Ric Flair would definitely be a proud father seeing his daughter make such an impressive comeback.
Despite having been out of action for so long, Charlotte put the hours in the gym and ensured that she was in perfect shape for the fight on Sunday.
