“What do the fans want to see?” – Roman Reigns pitches great battle with The Rock in the near future

Roman Reigns shares great idea for a fight with WWE Hall of Famer The Rock

Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns has opened up on the chances of him facing The Rock in the ring.

Reigns is the current WWE Universal Champion, having won the title at the Payback PPV event last year. Since then, ‘The Head of the Table’ has successfully defended his championship against the likes of Jey Uso, Kevin Owens and most recently, Daniel Bryan.

Reigns is currently involved in a programme with WWE Royal Rumble 2021 winner Edge whom he faces off against at WrestleMania 37 for the Universal Championship. This past week on SmackDown, that match was converted into a triple-threat fight with Daniel Bryan also getting inserted after having made Reigns tap at the Fastlane PPV last month.

Helwani, though, quizzed Reigns whether things would have aligned differently and he would be facing The Rock at “The Showcase of the Immortals” if not for the pandemic. Roman replied that there would have been a better chance of that happening but insisted that he likes how things are happening currently.

Reigns wants The Rock in 2023 in Hollywood

Reigns than went on to pitch an intriguing idea where he would face off against “The Great One” in 2023 when WrestleMania goes Hollywood.

The Show of Shows is penned in to take place at the SoFi Stadium in LA, California on April 2nd 2023 and Reigns would want a shot at The Rock in ‘his own backyard’.

“We can’t lie about it, Dallas [venue for WM 38] is humungous but I’ve already done that, over a hundred thousand people, main-evented that spot, huge. Then the following year, I’m in his backyard.”

Will The Rock vs Roman Reigns happen at a future WrestleMania?

“Imagine me with another couple of years of this dominance going against the Great One you know what I mean, in Hollywood, which is god willing the obvious next step if available and everything happens correctly and it’s just meant to be.

“People in my position typically end up there. So like to be able to continue to build and then be able to tell that story with him if he’s down, it’d be cool”

All about the fans

Reigns then went on to add that it was all about creating monumental moments for the fans to see. And if it would involve him taking on The People’s Champ, he’d be down for it.

“It all comes back to the audience. What do our fans want to see, what’s gonna entertain them.”

Reigns as the heel, the ‘Tribal Chief’, The Rock as the beloved babyface, this one pretty much writes itself. But will we get to see it go down? Paul Heyman recently claimed that The Rock did want to work with Reigns, so there may be some hope.
