WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns tests positive for COVID-19 before Day 1
The Tribal Chief “Roman Reigns missed the first pay-per-view of the year as he was tested positive for COVID-19 just a few hours before the WWE Day 1 show.
Reigns couldn’t defend his title against Brock Lesnar because he announced this on his Twitter handle about the incident about not performing.
The Tribal Chief mentioned that he won’t be competing due to some protocols and will look to return as soon as possible. Reigns is a cancer survivor, as we all know.
“I yearn to perform tonight at #WWEDay1 to defend my Universal Championship. However, unfortunately, earlier today I tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the proper protocols, I am unable to compete as originally scheduled. I look forward to returning to action as soon as possible.”
Roman Reigns miss became Brock Lesnar’s gain at WWE Day 1
As Reigns could not compete at WWE Day 1 against Brock Lesnar for the Universal title. WWE announced on Twitter that Lesnar will now move to the WWE Championship match, which will now be a Fatal-5 Way featuring Big E, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley.
The Bull Dog missed the chance today as Lesnar hoped to get some redemption to get another chance at the title after Crown Jewel. Unfortunately, that match was interfered with by The Bloodline, and it cost Lesnar the victory.
But it came as Lesnar’s gain as he put up a dominant performance with a series of German Suplexes to Rollins and Owens and, in the end, gave Big E a brutal F-5 to get the victory with a pin-fall.
Reigns had earlier also stepped away from WWE when the COVID-19 pandemic began and did not participate in WrestleMania 36 in 2020 in his wish to keep his family safe.
