“The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns World title Run is the longest in WWE since 1988
WWE has a history of some of the greatest world champions in history. Great names like Hulk Hogan, The Rock, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin have been the world champions.
But ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns has hit a couple of significant milestones as Universal Champion. First, he hit the 500-day mark with the title and then he surpassed Brock Lesnar’s set. He has held a World Title in WWE for the most consecutive days since 1988.
The last time someone had a World Champion reign of that long was none other than Hulk Hogan when he held the title for the first time.
Roman is facing his former Shield buddy Seth Rollins at Royal Rumble 2022.
Who had the longest WWE title reign?
Terry Eugene Bollea, aka Hulk Hogan, is considered one of the most famous pro wrestlers ever in the ring. Hogan was the face of WWF.
In 1984, Hogan won the first WWF World Heavyweight Championship against The Iron Sheik at the iconic Madison Square Garden. This was the start of the Hulkamania era.
The Immortal one went up against some of the company’s most prominent names like Bob Orton, Nikolai Volkoff, Roddy Piper. However, one of the historic moments in pro-wrestling history was when Hulkamania defeated Andre the Giant to retain his championship title at WrestleMania 3.
The Hulkamania was the World Champion for 1474 days which consisted of four years. However, his reign was ended by Andre The Giant in February 1988.
