WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns won’t be working for small house shows
Roman Reigns reportedly signed a new contract with WWE, and as per his new contract, he has reduced his schedule. As a result, he will now be working significantly fewer dates.
According to Andrew Zarian, Reigns won’t be working small market house shows. In June, the Universal Champion was also pulled from Hell in a Cell show.
It is to be noted that Reigns is not advertised for any TV tapings or live events for July and August. The next event in which Reigns is now set to compete is expected to be at the WWE Money in the Bank event. It is still unknown what this means for the show. It is still unclear what will be happening with Drew McIntyre or how WWE plans on explaining Roman’s absence from WWE TV.
As per Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a source within WWE told him that his deal is to work only big stadium shows and major premium live events. The number is close to six. This year WWE will have eight big shows where Reigns is expected to work.
“There was a report that he had agreed to do only the major PPV shows per year, meaning largely the planned stadium shows and Saudi Arabia shows. One person in the promotion with knowledge of the deal said the first report of six wasn’t exactly accurate but close, and in his year the number of stadium shows and Saudi Arabia shows would be eight.”
A new post has been released for the June 5 event, which has Cody Rhodes featured front and centre instead of Reigns. The Tribal Chief was previously included in the poster of Hell in a Cell.
The American Nightmare replacing Reigns in the poster could mean that Cody Rhodes vs Seth Rollins inside the Hell in a Cell will be the main event show.
However, Reigns is expected to be part of other big WWE shows.
