The Hall of Famer played a rapid fire round where he answered questions in his own indomitable way.
Ron Simmons has entertained us fans for many years. His answers to WWE in association with TikTok were straight from the heart and we loved his answers.
Let’s take a look at the questions he was asked and his answers to them:
Firstly, he was asked about his favourite superstar from the current roster, to which he replied with two names – AJ Styles and Big E.
Second question was pertaining to who was the best football player-turned-superstar to which he took his own name. he further added, “Two-time all American, Heisman Trophy candidate – Ron Simmons!”
Former one-time WCW champion, when asked about his dream opponent said: ” Wow man that is a really, really good question, right? The Undertaker, you know.. no question.”
Ron Simmons had faced quite a few legendary wrestlers in his illustrious career. When he was asked to name the toughest superstar he had encountered, we waited with baited breath as to who he would name. From Cactus Jack to Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat to The Rock, he had faced one and all. The 3-time WWF tag team champion named Vader as his toughest challenge in-ring and it was fair enough. The two heavyweight wrestlers had encounters that got very physical from the get-go.
“Becoming the first Black World Heavyweight Champion against Vader.” – Simmons’ reply, when asked about his most memorable match.
Vader and Ron Simmons had some gruelling matches against each other. This was one such match where Simmons made history.
On August 2, 1992 at a house showin Baltimore, Maryland, a scheduled match between Sting and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Vader was canceled after Jake Roberts (kayfabe) injured Sting. President of WCW Bill Watts held an impromptu raffle to determine the number one contender.
Simmons won the raffle and went on to pin Vader after using a snap scoop powerslam. By defeating the powerhouse known as Vader, Simmons became the first recognized African American WCW World Heavyweight Champion and the second African American wrestler to win a World Heavyweight title.
On a lighter note, Simmons was asked which superstar was the best card player. Simmons named his friend Bradshaw (JBL) and Joe C.
It’s always fun listening to the legends and this little 1-minute video was quite refreshing. The vintage “Damn” was missed though!
