Ronda Rousey comes out in support of Conor McGregor after UFC 264 loss
Former UFC star Ronda Rousey had words of praise for Conor McGregor after his comments at UFC 264 against Dustin and Jolie Poirier.
Rousey took to Twitter to defend the Irishman after his post match antics saying:
“If you want sportsmanship and idealism go watch the @Olympics – lord knows they need the views.”
McGregor hurled abuses at Jolie Poirier, wife of Dustin after he suffered a brutal ankle break. The fight was called off after the doctor requested a stoppage. The Irishman will be rehabilitating after undergoing surgery on his leg and will be out for more than 8 months.
Poirier is now aiming for the title on Charles Oliviera, after he became the undisputed #1 contender.
Rousey also supported McGregor after he insisted that the decision is stopped because of a forced medical decision rather than his own.
UFC President Dana White did not take too kindly to McGregor’s words saying: (h/t MMA Fighting)
“Yeah, I don’t like that. Yeah, that’s not good. Leave people’s families and wives and all that stuff out of it. Family has nothing to do with it.”
McGregor, however, may get another chance at Poirier after trailing 2-1 in their head to head record.
Will Ronda Rousey return to WWE?
Rousey will be appearing in WWE in the near future, as confirmed by WWE President Nick Khan. She has been out of the company since she defended her RAW Women’s title in the first-ever all-women’s WrestleMania main event. She suffered a pinfall loss at the hands of Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35.
Now, after more than two years out she revealed that she will return when “I feel like it.” Rousey is undoubtedly one of the hottest names in professional wrestling. Despite her absence, she continues to keep her fans updated on social media.
