RVD reveals the one moment which made his WWE HOF induction even more memorable
WWE fans had what they wanted when this year’s Hall of Fame inductions took place just a few days before WrestleMania 37.
Rob Van Dam was finally inducted into the wall of immortals as a part of the Class of 2021. That function was a bit different than the other WWE HOF ceremonies, however.
The HOF Class of 2020 was also present and this was a ceremony for them too because last year’s function was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
And because of this, speeches had to be cut short because they had to fill a whole a lot of people within the space of a few hours.
Talking about that night earlier this week was RVD himself, as he joined Dave LaGreca and Tommy Dreamer on the latest episode of the Busted Open podcast.
And he revealed the one moment during his induction that he says will stay with him forever.
That moment was the WWE CEO Vince McMahon, and NXT founder Triple H, saying that RVD had changed the business forever.
“The whole night was awesome. Having Vince [McMahon] and Hunter [Triple H] tell me that I changed the business… that will stick with me forever. You know, that’s great. That’s something that means a lot to me. I know that a lot of people were happy. I can feel the energy. If you’re happy for me and I’m happy for them, everybody’s happy.”
And they are not wrong. A lot of future wrestlers really moulded their skillsets and persona in some or the other way after RVD’s stint.
When he was with the WWE, the high-flying RVD was one of the most fun wrestlers to watch and in all his runs, remained a fan favourite. That is probably why their reception to the news of RVD being in the WWE HOF was so positive.
