Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement from MMA after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254
Khabib Nurmagomedov announcing his retirement from the UFC came as a huge shock to everyone.
The Russian star defeated Justin Gaethje in amazing fashion and then shocked the world by claiming he was done with the sport.
Khabib revealed he had made a promise to his mother and UFC 254 was going to be his last fight. The loss of his father earlier in the year also took a toll on the Dagestan star, and the 29-0 UFC champion leaves behind a great legacy.
Khabib has always spoken about his religion and never hidden that from his interviews. The Russian also has praised his parents a lot and even told Gaethje after the fight to take care of them as you never knew what could happen to them.
Zayn lavishing praise on Khabib
Sami Zayn is a Syrian-Canadian WWE star and has also spoken about Islam in the past. The Canadian ha started several NGOs to help those in need back home, and brought up why Khabib will be a hero for Muslims.
“One of the most dominant fighters ever, @TeamKhabib is also a worthy hero for Muslims worldwide. Clearly a man of principle & conviction. It’s been remarkable to see him constantly & unapologetically put his Islamic faith at the fore through all his success. Big respect.”

Zayn isn’t the only Muslim in WWE with Mustafa Ali also doing his bit. Khabib has been excellent in his MMA career and it is a little surprising he retired going 29-0.
The Russian wanted to face GSP for his 30th and possibly final fight, but the toll of losing his father seems to be too much for him.
This was still a fantastic outing from the Russian, who has only lost two rounds in his MMA career. Khabib has certainly been a great role model for youngster across the world, and even his coach believed he was in the same bracket as the legendary Muhammad Ali in this sense.
