Sami Zayn lashes out as “shameful” WWE asks status of Intercontinental Championship

WWE decided to ask who was the current IC champion, Sami Zayn or Jeff Hardy

Sami Zayn made his shock return to WWE SmackDown last week and left a huge mark on the show.

Jeff Hardy was celebrating with his Intercontinental title but Zayn came out from nowhere to destroy the champion.

Zayn was the IC champion before WWE decided to strip him of the title. The Canadian wasn’t featuring on WWE since the coronavirus pandemic and the show conducted a tournament to decide the winner.

AJ Styles picked up the title from that competition. However, Hardy got a crack at the title after he had to give up his place in the competition post an attack from Sheamus.

While Hardy picking up the gold was great for the Charismatic Enigma, Zayn returning to WWE does lead to many problems.

The Canadian has never accepted that he lost the title and hit out at the WWE for asking who the real Intercontinental champion was.

Zayn added that this was a “shameful attempt” to hand Hardy the title and wasn’t accepting it at all:

Zayn vs Hardy?

Zayn is right in suggesting that he never lost the title and can consider himself the champion. However, WWE made the decision to strip him and then hold a competition to decide the winner.

Zayn should get a chance to win the crown and it will be interesting to see what happens next. WWE can book Hardy vs Zayn and the rivalry is more or less set after the high flyer was attacked last week.

It will also be interesting to see what happens with Styles. The Phenomenal One also deserves a rematch for the Intercontinental title and that could take place sooner rather than later.
