Sami Zayn took a different route while speaking about the George Floyd situation
Sami Zayn is refusing to remain silent despite what some saw as a lowkey form of punishment by WWE.
Zayn spoke about how fair wrestling is compared to the real world. In light of the death of George Floyd, and ongoing riots and unrest in the USA, Zayn tweeted the following.
I love the simplicity and, ironically enough, the honesty of pro wrestling.
In pro wrestling, if I torment you for years, insult you, spit on you, humiliate you & physically attack you until you eventually had enough and you beat my ass…I’m still the bad guy who had it coming.
— Sami Zayn (@SamiZayn) June 1, 2020
The take from the former champion highlighted how a bad guy in wrestling gets it in the end, even if he had tormented a soul a while back. He seemed to suggest that isn’t the case in the real world.
Zayn has been vocal about movements and causes that stand in contradiction to what many of the top brass in WWE—particularly Vince McMahon—believe. The WWE star also spoke out against those refusing to follow stay-at-home orders.
Zayn was particularly critical of President Donald Trump, whom WWE has donated millions to. He ended up discussing “stupidity & privilege that is so distinctly American.” Zayn has also come out in support of former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Zayn’s bold choice to use his platform to further social causes speaks to just how passionately he feels about them, not to mention a rare case of a WWE Superstar bucking WWE’s unofficial, public-facing policy of stars being apolitical.
WWE stars speak after Floyd incident
WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil and WWE Hall of Famer Batista sat down Saturday to discuss the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. They also spoke about fixing the racial divide among police and African American people.
O’Neil and Batista were joined by Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan and Tampa Sheriff Chad Chronister. The WWE stars offered their takes and asked the officers questions that had been sent to them.
O’Neil, who consistently seems like one of the best people in WWE, also had a lot to say.

Batista stressed the importance of American citizens of every race taking an interest in the circumstances surrounding Floyd’s death and being part of the discussion on how to fix the divide moving forward.
The pair are just a few of the WWE stars who have voiced their concerns regarding the situation. Many have come out in support of the protests and have questioned the police too. However, some of the protests have turned violent, which no one has supported.
