Sami Zayn claims back his Intercontinental Championship

Sami Zayn pinned Shinsuke Nakamura to win the Intercontinental Championship for the third time. In December 2021, Zayn overcame a gauntlet match to become the number one contender for the Intercontinental title.

With former champion Shinsuke Nakamura out of action, Zayn had to wait for his opportunity. But when opportunity struck, Zayn took full advantage of it. He pinned the former Royal Rumble winner to win back the title.

During the match, momentum swung back and forth with both the wrestlers equally dominating the game. Every time, Nakamura seem to had the upper hand, Zayn targeted his knee to slow him down. The strategy eventually paid off when Zayn used the ringpost to damage Nakamura’s knee further. Soon after, Zayn targeted the knee again and pinned the champion.

Although some claimed the finish to the match was a poor one, several others were happy to see Zayn claim back the title. Twitter went all frenzy after his win.
