Samoa Joe reacts to his WWE release as 9 other stars get the axe
Just one day to the year after WWE released 20 stars from their roster, they’ve only gone and done the same thing again.
Last year, the company cited financial hardships due to Covid-19 as the reason for the sackings. And this year, the reasoning remains along the same lines.
The promotion has announced that 10 stars will be released from their contracts. The list includes wrestlers such as Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Bo Dallas, Mojo Rawley, and others.
But the biggest name is undoubtedly that of Samoa Joe. The Samoan Submission Machine is a big name in pro wrestling and did well since he joined the promotion in 2015.
And while WWE has dropped the ball on a lot of superstars before, Joe’s release still comes as a shock. These releases also come after the company’s blockbuster streaming deal with Peacock.
Where will Samoa Joe go next after his WWE release?
The answer to that will probably come after he rides out the 90-day no wrestling clause that is inserted into the WWE wrestler’s contracts.
This prevents WWE superstars to not be able to sign for a company or wrestle professionally elsewhere for 3 months.
And Joe played along with a light-hearted joke on Twitter when a beer brand, Pabst Blue Ribbon, announced that they have signed Joe.
Fans would love to see him join AEW. The newly-formed brand is giving WWE a run for its money and has signed a number of ex-WWE stars before.
Joe could join the likes of Christian, Chris Jericho, Big Show, and Sting to make that journey from WWE to AEW. And apart from that, there’s always IMPACT, New Japan, etc. etc. Guess we’ll have the answer soon enough.
But wherever he goes, we know he would be back to his old all-conquering, all-destroying self and reduce his opponents to rubble.
