Former WWE star Kalisto is all set to make his boxing debut and Sasha Banks has his back

Kalisto was released by WWE alongside other superstars such as Samoa Joe, Chelsea Green, and Mickie James earlier in April.

That ended an 8-year run for him with the company. The luchador gave fans countless memories, especially during his time with former tag team partner, Sin Cara.

And when the news of him being cut by WWE was made public, his wife Abigal Rodriguez posted a message on Instagram, thanking all the fans and saying that this was only the start of other, bigger things.

It seems like she was right. It was recently announced that Kalisto, whose real name is Emanuel Alejandro Rodriguez, will be making his boxing debut soon enough.

The ex-WWE Cruiserweight champion shared a post on his Twitter account that hinted towards him fighting under the banner of Triller Fight Club. It also mentioned the name ‘Samuray Del Sol’, which was his wrestling name before WWE.

One former NXT colleague of his who was stoked to hear the news was Sasha Banks, as ‘The Boss’ quoted the tweet and shared it with her 2.1 million followers.

Triller is, of course, the promotion that brought back Mike Tyson and conducted the Ben Askren vs Jake Paul bout.

And it seems like Triller boss Ryan Kavanaugh has been seduced by Kalisto’s WWE CV. A lot of people in combat sports are venturing towards boxing.

The former Lucha House Party member is not known for his punches. The high-flying moves of WWE are an impossibility inside the boxing ring.

But there would surely be enough time for him to train and try to put up a good performance. Hopefully, his debut is a good watch against an even opponent.

Showpiece boxing events like the one between Askren and Paul otherwise make a mockery of the sport in the name of money, but with Kalisto’s experience in amateur wrestling and taekwondo, he may just have the base to build on as a rookie boxer.
