Sasha Banks shared how she got got her WWE name and her mother thought it was that of an adult star
Sasha Banks, like most of the WWE stars, doesn’t wrestle under her real name. The Boss is actually named Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado but her mother, Judith, was not happy with the name WWE provided.
There really is no thought regarding how some names come up and this is exactly what happened with The Boss.
Banks was speaking on the Just Women’s Sports podcast and confirmed how her name came to being with two separate names being combined (h/t Metro):
“They asked me to give a long list of names, and I always remember putting Sasha with a different last name and Banks with a different first name. And I remember just debuting at a house show for WWE and I needed a name. I can’t just be Mercedes KV.”
Banks then confirmed that Sara Del Ray brought up the Sasha Banks name, and The Boss loved it and claimed it sounded “really really good.”
Sasha Banks mother was unhappy with WWE name
Banks then shared this news with her mother, but Judith was far from impressed:
“She ended up calling me and goes, ‘That’s a porn star name! Tell them to change it!’”.
However, Banks told her mother that she could not tell WWE to change the name now. There still is some good news for Banks though, The Boss confirmed her mother is alright with her WWE name and even is like “Mama Banks”.
Banks has been away from WWE for a while since losing to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 37. However, there have been some major hints of her return ahead of SummerSlam.
Belair is in action at Hell in a Cell on Sunday as she defends her title against Bayley. Banks returning at Hell in a Cell or even after that would be something to keep an eye on. The Boss is one of the top performers in the business and restarting her rivalry with Belair would be brilliant.
