Sasha Banks reacts gleefully despite her loss to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 37

Night one of WrestleMania 37 saw two women create WrestleMania history. Sasha Banks took on Bianca Belair as she looked to defend her WWE SmackDown women’s title.

This match was highly significant for many reasons. It was a culmination of the recent push given by the promotion to Belair, following her recent Royal Rumble triumph.

The EST of NXT has taken giant strides on the main roster in a short span of time, and this was the first time she became a champion on either the Red of the Blue brand.

And more significantly, this event saw two African-American headline a WrestleMania event for the first time in history.

The match itself was very high quality, with both wrestlers giving it their all in a marathon title match. And it was Belair who emerged victorious, ending Banks’ near 8-month long reign at the top.

Sasha Banks knows this WrestleMania match was bigger than her

A video emerged after the fight which shows Banks ringside, trying to look dejected, but unable to hide her happiness for Belair.

It was a really heart-warming moment and something that was not all that surprising, as Banks herself admitted last week that this title fight was bigger than her.

This really puts Belair on the map now and she does not seem like she’s going off the top anytime soon.

She even got a mini-documentary of her own from WWE earlier this year and would be hoping that she continues cementing her legacy at the top in the coming years.

With names like Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey all disappearing (albeit temporarily) from the roster, it seems like Belair could be the face of the women’s division in the near future.
