Seth Rollins has finally found a place on the WrestleMania card after weeks of trying. He will face an opponent of Vince McMahon’s choosing at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
As per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Shane McMahon is being recalled to WWE during the WrestleMania weekend. The 52-year-old was originally in the plans to have a WrestleMania match this year until backstage issues emerged during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view earlier in the year.
Shane McMahon was brought on board to put the Royal Rumble match together. From who enters at what number to who eliminates whom, all these complexities were assigned to McMahon. However, it was later revealed by several trusted sources that Vince McMahon’s son wanted to have the match revolve around himself.
He wanted to enter no. 1 and eliminate several top superstars during his outing. This didn’t sit well with many superstars. Shane and Brock Lesnar were involved in an argument as per reports and Vince McMahon was left with no choice but to send his son packing from the company. This had caused a lot of plans to be changed heading into the Elimination Chamber PPV where Shane was supposed to have a big role in the ring.
Things have become better it seems as Shane is almost certain to be back in WWE.
Can Shane McMahon be the opponent for Seth Rollins?
We posted an article recently on the five probable opponents and a dark horse who could face Seth Rollins at The Show of Shows. Shane McMahon is another option. However, as per PWInsider’s report, Shane’s role at WrestleMania hasn’t been mentioned.
Shane McMahon has been in the ring with the likes of The Undertaker, Kane, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Owens, and many more. There’s no reason why he can’t go head-to-head with Rollins and produce a fine match.
It would be a nice story as well that Vince was the one who expelled his son at Royal Rumble and he will be the one to put Shane in a WrestleMania match against one of the top superstars in the company.
It is important to note that in all likelihood, Cody Rhodes is going to be Seth’s opponent. There have been multiple reports of the same. WWE has teased Cody’s return to WWE for weeks now. Fans have also bought into the idea of Cody facing Seth at WrestleMania wholeheartedly. It’s going to be interesting to see who Vince McMahon picks as Seth’s opponent but it certainly is going to be a great match for sure.
