Gabriel Jesus was shown a red card for his horrifying tackle in a match against Chile in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Copa America
Brazil faced Chile in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Copa America. The Selecao scraped through with a 1-0 win, thanks to Lucas Paqueta goal.
However, the match was marred with controversy after Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus executed a nasty flying high boot to the face of Chilean player Eugenio Mena.
Mena crashed to the ground in agony, even as the referee sent off Gabriel before going on to call for the medical staff.
Gabriel clearly knew it was his mistake as he looked at Mena in distress, before walking off the pitch.
His tackle was strikingly similar to Nigel de Jong’s high boot on Xabi Alonso at the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
There was more to it, it was also similar to WWE Superstars Sheamus and Drew McIntyre’s signature moves – Brogue Kick and Claymore.
Sheamus and Drew McIntyre react to Gabriel Jesus’ red card
Gabriel Jesus’ red card went viral due to its sheer horrifying nature. A while later WWE superstars Sheamus and Drew McIntyre reacted to his tackle due to the resemblance it shared with their special moves.
Sheamus quote tweeted with a message that read – “Brogue”, followed by a boot.
McIntyre responded with an intently looking eye emoji.
While Gabriel’s brogue kick/claymore was of little use to him, Sheamus and McIntyre have done wonders with ‘that’ kick.
McIntyre captured his first-ever WWE Championship with a barrage of Claymores on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.
Sheamus has been a part of the WWE for quite a long time, and one of his most notable wins using the Brogue Kick was against Zack Ryder, against whom he won in under 10 seconds.
