Sheamus and Conor McGregor had a nasty Twitter back and forth back in late 2014

If it’s Conor McGregor bringing laurels to Ireland in the UFC, it’s Sheamus who’s doing the same in the WWE.

Both have hit massive peaks in their respective careers.

While Sheamus has held several WWE titles viz. Championship, Heavyweight Championship, Tag team championship, United States Championship and whatnot, McGregor was once the ‘double-champ’, when he held both the featherweight and lightweight titles at the same time.

Currently, it is only Sheamus who has been enjoying championship status. ‘The Celtic Warrior’ is the United States Champion.

McGregor, on the other hand, is currently down and out. He is recovering from an ankle surgery after suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time in his career.

In a recent interview with the Schmo, Sheamus presented his case for being called the biggest star in Ireland over McGregor.

He was quoted as saying:

“Coz, I’m the champ fella. I’m the champ. I don’t see the gold around anyone else…I’m the champ. That’s all that really matters. Right here, right now, we can talk about the past, talk about what was done. But right now, in this moment of time, I’m the United States champion, I don’t know any other Irish guy there is.”

It is worth noting that, McGregor and Sheamus were involved in a nasty Twitter feud back in 2014.

Sheamus will be defending his United States Championship against Damian Priest

SummerSlam 2021 is set to kickoff in a few hours. In fact, Sheamus’ interview with the Schmo was at the site of SummerSlam 2021. It is set to take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Sheamus will be defending his United States Championship against Damian Priest. There is also a bad blood going on between the two after Priest recently used Sheamus’ finisher Brogue Kick.

Sheamus will be looking forward to defending his title and keeping his winning momentum going.
