Shinsuke Nakamura wants to stay with WWE after signing a new deal
The current intercontinental champion, Shinsuke Nakamura, seems to be happy at WWE after signing a new deal, according to Andrew Zarian of Mat Men Pro Wrestling (h/t Ringside news).
Nakamura started his second reign as the IC champion after defeating Apollo Crews on the 13 August edition of SmackDown.
The Japanese star has seen a bit of a resurgence in recent weeks and this culminated in him picking up the gold.
Nakamura is a former NXT Champion and Zarian added that Nakamura was happy with the company too:
“Nakamura did [sign contract extension], but Nakamura is so happy.”
Zarian also added that Nakamura had worked his socks off to be in the company. The King of Strong Style could be carrying several knocks over the years and his situation in WWE suits him.
However, no other details such as the length of Nakamura’s contract were shared.
The company compensates him well with a decent salary and he is performing on a level where he doesn’t have to put his body on the line all the time in each match.
Nakamura is one of the best in the business and it is great seeing him get another run as a champion.
What is next for Shinsuke Nakamura?
Nakamura being the champion is a good move by WWE and he can have some crazy battles with the likes of Crews and former champions Big E and Sami Zayn.
SmackDown does have a great roster and it will be interesting to see what is next for Nakamura. The King of Strong Style deserves to get paid for all the hard work he did over the years.
WWE might have lost their way with Nakamura after he came up from NXT, but things seem to be on the right trajectory now.
