Big E endured a broken neck during SmackDown last week – update on his injury
The former WWE champion Big E had teamed with Kofi Kingston to face the team of Sheamus and Ridge Holland with Butch (formerly known as Pete Dunne) for company.
During a spot outside the ring, Holland performed a belly-to-belly suplex on Big E. Ideally, a wrestler looks to fall on his back while taking the suplex but it’s all in one motion and sometimes it doesn’t go as planned. Big E tried his best to rotate fully and land on his back but that didn’t happen. Instead, he landed on top of his head. Everyone was shocked and scared as the fall was difficult to watch and Big E couldn’t get up after it.
Eventually, Big E posted a video on his Twitter handle from a hospital wearing a neck brace and assured everyone he was doing well. However, he revealed that he suffered a broken neck. Prayers and good thoughts have been flowing in ever since the accident happened. Big E thanked everyone for the messages in his own jovial style.
“If you want to break a neck, do it in Birmingham” – Big E
Later on, he posted another video conveying a more detailed update regarding his health. Big E started saying he has some good news. He revealed that C1 and C6 are fractured but not displaced. The good news was that he suffered no spinal cord or ligament damage and won’t require surgery. Big E who is always in good spirits said that if anyone wants to break a neck then Birmingham is the place. E said he is impressed by the hospitality and is grateful for all the messages of support he has received.
Big E ended the video assuring he will be alright. We wish him a speedy recovery. Big E has entertained fans throughout his career and has many championship runs left in him.
Fans and superstars have all sent their good thoughts to Big E. We take a look at some of the messages of support Big E received on Twitter:
