Sonya Deville blames one person for weird Zombie Lumberjacks at WrestleMania Backlash

WWE brought out some zombie lumberjacks at WrestleMania Backlash as a tie in for Army of the Dead movie

WWE isn’t averse to tie ups with brands and promoting other products. They have done it for several years and decided to do the same at WrestleMania Backlash.

However, one of the more shocking decisions was regarding the lumberjack match between The Miz and Damian Priest.

The lumberjacks for this clash were actually zombies, yes, the undead. Of course, this was because of the tie-in with Army of the Dead.

This is a new Zack Snyder film and it features Dave Batista as one of the main stars. Batista even tweeted out that some of his “friends” would make it to Backlash since he couldn’t.

Now, WWE does have some interesting storylines but it came as a bit of a shock to see this. Adam Pearce even confirmed it was an official decision and Sonya Deville kept herself far away from this decision and laid the blame on the other WWE executive.

A mixed reaction to the match

Lumberjack matches are fun, most of the times, and Priest and The Miz did their best to keep this exciting.

Adding the zombies ensured there was another dimension to falling outside. However, they even teamed up to attack the zombies after a few minutes.

The problem with zombies is that if you get cut or even bitten you turn up into one of them. Priest was able to get the win but The Miz was left to be attacked by the zombies after the match.

John Morrison, the Miz’s partner, was also kidnapped by the zombies later in the match. A cinematic match might have worked but the WWE fans were split regarding if the match was good or poor.
