The first out lesbian WWE wrestler Sonya Deville attended her very first L.A. Pride Parade this past Sunday. She is in a relationship with model and fitness enthusiast, Toni Cassano.
Sonya Deville was a contestant on the 2015 edition of Tough Enough. She did not manage to win but she opened up about her sexual orientation on the show. Deville revealed during an interview with a WWE judge that she was not married but did have a girlfriend.
Deville began her professional wrestling career in NXT before moving on to the main roster. She made her NXT in-ring debut back in August 2016. Her main roster debut was alongside Paige and close friend Mandy Rose, and the trio was known as Absolution. Paige was the leader of the stable before she was forced to retire due to a serious neck injury.
Deville and Rose continued to compete as a tag team and were known as Fire and Desire. This was before Deville and Rose got into a feud that culminated at SummerSlam 2020 in a ‘Loser Leaves WWE’ match. Rose won and Deville was taken off WWE Television for a short while. This was to allow Deville some time to settle in after a stalker had broken into her home a few weeks prior to the pay-per-view.
Deville returned to WWE as an on-screen official and portrayed a heel gimmick. She abused her powers and made Naomi’s life hell in WWE. She continued for over a year before she was released from her duties a couple of months ago. The 28-year-old is now a competitor on the RAW brand.
Sonya Deville and Toni Cassano – The love story
In this segment, we will know more about Sonya Deville’s girlfriend Toni Cassano. The two lovebirds broke the internet last week as they publicly kissed at the season 4 premiere of Netflix’s “Stranger Things”.
Deville and Cassano’s relationship came to light last month when the latter shared a photo with her partner on Instagram. Both women have posted quite a few pictures together since then and they look very happy in each other’s presence.
Sonya Deville has dated a few women over the past few years. She had been in relationships with former WWE Superstar Zahra Schreiber and Arianna Johnson.
Cassano wrote a heartfelt message for the WWE Superstar on Instagram celebrating Pride Month:
“Find a love that is magical. Find passion and grace, a best friend, a partner. Who ever it is, the person that sets your heart on fire. Build a unit that is wanted not needed, grow with each other, be compassionate and give your whole heart. That is the love of a lifetime. No matter who you love, do it with passion and every layer of your soul. To my love, this is the greatest love story ever told. @sonyadevillewwe #pride #pridemonth,” she wrote.
