Sonya Deville has her protection injunction against kidnapper extended

Phillip A. Thomas, the man responsible for the attempted kidnapping of Daria Berenato (AKA Sonya Deville) had a competency hearing on Monday, May 10th.

But a few days back on May 6th, according to Raj Giri of WrestlingInc (h/t Fightful), Deville’s temporary protection injunction against Thomas was extended.

The kidnapper is currently is imprisoned and faces life in prison on charges of ‘Aggravated Stalking, Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Attempted Armed Kidnapping, and Criminal Mischief’.

The restraining order prevents Thomas from possessing any firearms or being within 100 feet of Deville at any location the WWE superstar requests. The next protection hearing is scheduled for 9 A.M. on October 7, 2021.

The order states that Thomas “shall not commit, or cause any other person to commit, any acts of stalking against Petitioner, including stalking, cyber-stalking, aggravated stalking, or any criminal offense resulting in physical injury or death. Respondent shall not commit any other violation of this injunction through an intentional unlawful threat, word, or act to do violence to Petitioner.”

Sonya Deville has been a big part of WWE since return in January

After the harrowing ordeal which occurred in August 2020, Deville faced Mandy Rose in a pseudo No DQ Loser Leaves WWE match at SummerSlam.

This was done to give her some time off the air after the incident and she made a return on the first WWE show this year, which was the 1st January episode of SmackDown.

Since then, she has been in an Executive position on the show, becoming an assistant to Adam Pearce.

Deville has also taken the liberty to assert her own self and make appearances on the Red brand as well, resulting in bad blood with Pearce.

For example, she reinstated Charlotte Flair after Pearce suspended her and then added her to the RAW women’s title match WrestleMania Backlash.

It doesn’t seem like she will be back to wrestling soon but WWE fans would be hoping that they get to see her fight again on the show.
