Sonya Deville is a former MMA star and claimed that Gina Carano vs Cris Cyborg got her interested into the sport

Sonya Deville might be making her name as she battles Mandy Rose on SmackDown. However, the Pride Fighter decided to share which MMA fight got her interested in the sport.

The 26-year-old is a former MMA star and held a 2-1 record before moving to WWE. While Deville and Rose were part of Absolution under Paige’s leadership, the pair had to take a new name after Paige retired from in-ring competition.

Fire and Desire had some great moments before splitting up and leading to the rivalry between Rose and Deville.

Nevertheless, Deville confirmed that it was the fight between Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg that got her going into the world of MMA.

The fight took place exactly 11 years ago and Cyborg handed Carano her first and only loss in professional MMA.

Carano hasn’t fought since, but she admitted this was one fight that changed the ceiling for women’s MMA.

Cyborg is considered a legend in the circuit, and this is as good a clash as one could have used to enter into the MMA world.

SummerSlam calling for a haircut

Deville reignited her feud with Rose recently and chopped off her rival’s locks. This set Rose off and the pair will meet at SummerSlam in a Hair vs Hair match.

Deville also has long locks while Rose is sporting a cropped look for now. However, the pair have been at odds since the team split up, and it will be interesting to see how this match goes.

The Pride Fighter has been electric since turning heel and she even backed the fact that her match could be the main event of SummerSlam.

Deville is one of the most lethal women in WWE and her MMA training should come in handy against Rose.

SummerSlam is gearing up to be exciting and this could be one of the best matches on the card.
