SmackDown will crown a new Intercontinental title and Sonya Deville is interested in the belt
WWE decided to strip Sami Zayn of his Intercontinental championship and Sonya Deville is open to winning the crown.
SmackDown will crown a new champion as Zayn hasn’t defended his title in a while. That has split opinions from the WWE Universe as Zayn isn’t keen on performing during the coronavirus pandemic.
Stripping him of the title is a bit extreme, given that Roman Reigns hasn’t fought for a while too.
Many stars have suggested that they want to win the crown, and one WWE fan claimed Deville would be a great IC champion.
The Pride Fighter replied to this tweet by saying “You right” and it will be interesting to see if she is involved in the clash.
While Deville fighting for the IC title would be a big deal, she wouldn’t be the first female to hold that belt.
Late WWE star Chyna was the first woman to hold the title, and she also almost fought for the top WWE belt too.
Chyna held this belt twice and that could be a route that WWE takes.
Many other promotions have seen inter gender matches take place, and they have also held mixed matches in the past.
Male and female wrestlers have scrapped in recent weeks too. Shayna Baszler almost got Rey Mysterio to tap out at Money in the Bank before Otis and Nia Jax crushed the high-flyer together.
There are some big names keen on lifting the title too, and we should learn more on this week’s SmackDown.
This was Zayn’s first major title on the top WWE brands. Hopefully, the Canadian came return to action soon and make another run for the crown.
