Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose were involved in a huge rivalry but couldn’t get a 2020 WWE Slammy nomination
The 2020 WWE Slammy award nominations were recently shared as the promotion brought up the end of the year ceremony after five years.
The Slammys were a fun way to end the year and there were some big names brought in. Some of the categories include Rivalry of the Year, Breakout star of the Year and much more.
However, Sonya Deville wasn’t pleased with one nomination. Lana, who has been doing well with Asuka, was included in the Rivalry of the Year.
She has been in a bit of a battle with Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler but that wasn’t the other end of the rivalry.
Lana was sent through an announce table at least nine times by Jax in recent weeks and the rivalry between the table and Lana was nominated.
Deville lost her cool, and so did Mandy Rose, as they couldn’t believe their heated rivalry wasn’t included in this.
Rose and Deville were great friends but broke up as Rose wanted to date Otis. This saw a loser leaves WWE match take place and it was Deville who lost the match.
While the ‘loser leaves’ stipulation is normally done for a star that needs a break, there is no news of Deville returning now.
Her tweet also claimed that she isn’t working for WWE at the moment, but this could be a bit of storytelling.
Deville and Rose had an incredible battle but they have patched up recently. The Slammy awards also have a bit of humour injected in the show and that could be one reason why Lana vs Announcer Tables was a rivalry of the year.
However, snubbing Deville vs Rose also is a bit of a mistake. Deville was excellent on the microphone during that run and it will be interesting to see if she makes her return.
