WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin is going to interview AEW’s Chris Jericho, which is huge news in the wrestling world

AEW and WWE are huge rivals in the wrestling business and any sort of collaboration would make big news headlines.

The two companies have taken shots at each other since AEW came into existence. Until recently, AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT were battling for TV ratings on Wednesday, and this was dubbed ‘The Wednesday Night Wars’.

NXT recently moved to Tuesday and left AEW to continue their growth on Wednesday. Not many expect any sort of collaboration between the two wrestling giants but Stone Cold Steve Austin and Chris Jericho have different plans.

The pair tweeted that Jericho, who is a former AEW champion, would be featuring on Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions:

Jericho is a legend in the wrestling business and won several titles during his time in WWE. However, this could be a ground breaking move for wrestling as a whole.

Vince McMahon agreed to this special Chris Jericho and Stone Cold Steve Austin meeting

Vince McMahon, the chairman of WWE, is one of the greatest men in the wrestling business. However, working with a rival might not be his cup of tea.

Austin, another WWE legend, was speaking to Sports Illustrated and brought up how Jericho responded positively to The Undertaker’s interview.

The WWE legend then contacted Jericho about coming onto the show. Jericho was open to this but Austin had to check with McMahon.

Austin added that he always respected Jericho but McMahon’s reaction was typical Vince, not much being said (h/t Cageside Seats):

“I texted Vince and said we had this badass idea about Jericho coming on the show. Vince goes, ‘It’s cool. Go ahead.’ But me and Vince don’t always do well with phones and texts and all that, so I texted one more time, ‘Are you sure it’s OK to have Chris Jericho on the show?’ Vince gave me the thumbs up, and Chris came out to do the show.”

Tony Khan, the AEW president, had recently claimed that the forbidden door was open. This was him referring to AEW working with Impact and NJPW.

However, WWE working with AEW and vice versa would be something incredible, and it will be interesting to see if such a relationship develops after this interview.
