The Great Khali made his debut against The Undertaker
The Undertaker was speaking to Corey Graves on After the Bell
Corey Graves brought in the legendary figure of The Undertaker for his After the Bell podcast. Taker spoke on several topics during the almost hour-long podcast and there were some funny stories too.
He highlighted how Kurt Angle was scared of taking punches from him, but Graves coaxed the Phenom into sharing another story.
This one revolved around the Great Khali and how the Indian star fell down like a tree. Taker and Khali were on a tour and the Deadman went on to say:
“I still to this day don’t understand how it happened. We were on tour in Europe or overseas, a lot of times you would put your top guys in six-man tags, like preservation, instead of each guy going out and having singles match, it’s smart booking.”
Taker added that such matches were done to ensure one-on-one stars didn’t get burnt out, and it would also have some great teams featuring for the crowds.
“It was me Triple H and maybe Batista, it was Fit Finlay, Khali and maybe MVP, I am not positive on players.”
Taker explained how the situation was set up as Khali attacked the Phenom and some confusion ensued:
“I am in the ring with Khali and he gives me the big chop on the head. Down I go and somebody in our corner said something to Khali and he moves into our corner. So he is stood in the corner for a while and he starts backing up.
“He starts backing up into me, all I wanted to do is to reach out and let him know, remind him that I was back there, and I kid you not. All I did was take my fingers and squeezed his heel. So he didn’t step on me or didn’t trip.
“I squeezed his heel and all of a sudden, it was like, ‘Oooooo’, it was like a redwood getting chopped down. He fell like a giant pine tree.”
The Phenom then joked about how seemed to have found a new move:
“I look over to my corner and everyone is on the top rope covered up and laughing. I am standing in the ring just looking at my hand like, ‘Wow, how come I didn’t discover this years ago’”.
Taker was last seen in the Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36. He makes fleeting appearances in WWE but kicks into gear ahead of WrestleMania season.
The Phenom is one of the greatest to have ever stepped foot in the ring. Hopefully, we get to see him for a few more years, at least.
