Legendary WWE Superstar The Undertaker is going to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class at WrestleMania 38
The Undertaker, aka Mark Calaway, will headline the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame class of Wrestlemania 38 in Dallas. The Hall of Fame will air on April 1 on Peacock.
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion officially retired at Survivor Series in 2020, which ended his WWE career. His final match came at WrestleMania 36 in an acclaimed Boneyard Match against A.J Styles.
The Phenom went on to win seven world championships and seven tag team titles in WWE. He was involved in some of the top storylines and has given the fans some of the greatest moments with Mankind, Kane, Shawn Michaels, “Stone Cold”, Steve Austin, Triple H and others.
Deadman had this to say after his retirement,
“I realized I have taken every physical gift, the tool that I have and have used it up,” “There’s no water left in the sponge if I can use that analogy. I’ve rung everything I could get out of that sponge.” (h/t Newyork Post)
He was involved in one of the greatest matches ever with Michaels at WrestleMania 25. After that, he was unbeatable till WrestleMania 29 with a streak of 21-0, but his winning streak was ended by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 in 2014.
The WWE Hall of Fame tradition is an honour for the company’s wrestlers every year to appreciate their past services and achievements. This started in 1993 when Andre the Giant was inducted into the WWF Individual class via a video package.
The following two editions in 1994 and 1995 were held during the King of the Ring pay per view event. The 1996 ceremony was held during the Survivor Series. But after the event went for an eight-year hiatus and then returned in 2004 Hall of Fame ceremony was held during WrestleMania. Since 2014 the entire ceremonies have been aired on the WWE Network.
There have been 222 inductees, including 122 individuals, 46 Legacy,17 Groups and 12 Celebrity indictees. Among the 222, eight wrestlers have been inducted twice individually and as a part of a tag team.
