WWE announced shock release of Aleister Black on Wednesday night
Aleister Black‘s sudden release has left the WWE Universe in shock. He was one of six superstars released by WWE, including big names like Braun Strowman and Lana.
Black had recently returned to live TV with a new character after a long absence and they were signs towards him winning a title in the near future, which was disregarded soon after.
His wife, Thea Trinidad shared a post on Instagram to display her support for her husband:
Black has thanked his fans and people at WWE for their supporting him. He later went to his wife’s Twitch channel to discuss things. He also thanked legendary manager, Paul Heyman for his mentorship. Black confirmed that budget cuts were the real reason for his departure from the promotion.
The former NXT Champion revealed that the creative teeam had planned for him to win the United States Championship, but Vince McMahon canceled it because he didn’t want him to have his first title win in an empty arena.
“Funny story, there was a moment where I was actually supposed to win the US title, but then Vince’s consensus were ‘I don’t wanna have him have his first title win in front of no audience’. Like there’s a lot of good stories, a lot of like almost happened moments. So I can’t be negative”
The 36-year-old wrestler’s main roster stint suffered due to inconsistent booking decisions and constant backstage changes within the company. On NXT, Black had one of the most dominant reigns as NXT Champion.
A fan responded to one of his recent tweets and said that Black should follow in Jon Moxley’s footstps and carve his own career, possibly in AEW.
Black agreed and ended his tweet with a big tease about a possible showdown with Jon Moxley somewhere down the line.
AEW is currently making great progress and boasts some of the biggest names in the pro-wrestling industry. Jon Moxley is one of the most popular names that the promotion has ( formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE ) and a match between him and Aleister black would be a box-office clash.
