Otis no longer holds the Money in the Bank briefcase
Speaking in the latest edition of the ‘Busted Open‘ podcast, Tommy Dreamer shared his views on Otis being stripped off the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase.
Otis outlasted 5 superstars to win the Money in the Bank ladder match in May 2020. He won a shot at the World title at any place and time of his choosing for up to 1 year.
That was until The Miz started pestering him in order to steal his briefcase. The A-lister did everything he could to get under Otis’ skin.
Things reached a boiling point The Miz sued Otis for possession of the contract, with JBL presiding as the judge.
The Miz bribed JBL into ruling in the A-lister’s favour, which then resulted in a Hell in a Cell match.
Miz beat Otis (albeit with a little help) and seized the Money in the Bank briefcase. This turn of events led many fans to wonder why Otis was stripped of the briefcase. After all, the 28-year-old had won the title fairly.
Dreamer shared his opinion on the matter and said that it could be down to his poor conditioning. He started off by praising Otis, but proceeded to question his stamina and physical fitness.
The wrestling legend opined that Otis was not up to the required levels because he had not fought in the Independent wrestling circuit.
He said that Otis looked weary in the ring and was lacking elite levels of fitness. This was in reference to the news that Otis, Keith Lee and a few others were sent back for more training.
“At times I watch him and I’m like ‘is he blown up in the ring? is he winded?’ and that affects your offence.”
Dreamer believes Otis’ game in the ring had ‘holes’, and this was picked up by the promotion and played a role in him losing the briefcase.
“You can see why that Money in the Bank was not capitalized because somebody saw holes in his game.”
The former ECW Champion also said that Otis should not take this as a setback and a demotion. Rather, he should maintain a good attitude because the promotion does not have a shortage of wrestlers who will do as they say.
