Triple H does not rule out the possibility of CM Punk making WWE return

CM Punk walked out of WWE after Royal Rumble 2014 and has never returned to in-ring action on the promotion since then.

The reason cited then was his frustration with his placement on the match-card as he had a fight with Triple H scheduled for WrestleMania 30.

Apart from that, he has had his fair share of troubles with WWE. Punk reported multiple problems with the company’s treatment of his injuries and their failure to meet their financial promises.

But he did land a job with the company in 2019, when he tied up with WWE to play a role on WWE Backstage.

Ever since then, fans have wondered if he could also step inside the ring considering he has put his differences aside with the company for that job.

Triple H reveals call with CM Punk over WWE return

And earlier this week, Triple H revealed that he made a call to CM Punk 2 years ago where they talked about his possible return.

Speaking to Pardon My Take (h/t fightful.com), Hunter stated that he was unsure about calling at first because he was not sure if Punk even wanted to come back.

“Last time I talked to [Punk]? A year and a half, a year and three quarters ago. A funny thing that people will constantly say when his return is but in some way, that has to be what he wants. People go, ‘make the call.’ Who says if we make the call that he wants to answer? What if we make the call and he’s like ‘I’m not interested in doing that anymore.’ Maybe he’s just done with it.”

But he stated that a return to WWE for Punk is only possible if ‘The Best In The World’ wants it.

“Those are conversations that only those people can directly answer. If he wants to do it, we would get word and have those conversations or he would make a call. There has to be a desire there to do something like that. This business is too all in to just go, ‘Ehhh, alright, I’ll do it.”

Punk has gone on to work in various ventures after his WWE exit, most notably in the UFC. And a return of the former superstar would definitely be one of the best WWE returns this decade considering the amount of fans he had, and still has, on the show.
