Finn Balor vs Karrion Kross 2 on NXT was everything that fans wanted and expected, with a few bumps along the way
This week’s WWE NXT saw Karrion Kross and Finn Balor take on each other in a rematch of their NXT: Stand & Deliver encounter.
Kross and Balor were once teammates. But a split back in March during their unsuccessful tag team challenge vs Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch changed everything.
The two then fought at Stand & Deliver in April where Kross won the NXT championship for the second time after beating the champ, Balor.
And the much-hyped rematch between the two really caught everyone’s eyeballs on NXT this week, at least for the first 15 minutes.
At the end, the match felt like it was dragged a little too much, probably about 4-5 minutes, and the broadcasting team seemed to pick up the wrong times to minimize live action in order to show the replays.
After the match, Kross and his accomplice, Scarlett Bordeaux, knelt in the ring with the title. And NXT founder Triple H was left in awe of Kross, as he tweeted:
“Dominant. Destructive. Definitive. #AndStill#WWENXT Champion… @WWEKarrionKross#TickTock@Lady_Scarlett13@WWENXT“
One thing NXT did brilliantly here is preserving the value of the match between the Irishman and Kross, something which the main roster is failing to do.
Constant rematches between the biggest stars reduce the hype around it in the big events. As for Balor and Kross, both seem to be at the pinnacle of their NXT careers right now.
Balor has talked about his desire to return to the main roster soon and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that finally happen this year, before ‘The Show of Shows in’ 2022.
