WWE named Trish Stratus as the greatest female wrestler of all time ahead of Charlotte Flair
A few weeks back, WWE came out with a list of the greatest WWE female stars of all time. This was made done in partnership with Peacock and only included modern-era wrestlers.
So, pre-1993 wrestlers were not included and trailblazers such as Mae Young were given honourable mentions on the list. And the #1 star on it was Trish Stratus.
The foxy superstar was one of the most dominant female wrestlers during her time, and her and Lita had the whole female roster under their boots.
Stratus is a 7-time Women’s champion, which is still a record for the most number of reigns for the title in its 5-decade long history. Close behind her on the list was Charlotte Flair.
‘The Queen’ is by far the most decorated female wrestler of all time.
But she finished second. And Stratus, speaking on the latest episode of The Busted Open podcast with Bully Ray, gave her views on finishing ahead of the fifth female Triple Crown and 4th female Grand Slam champion.
“It was a bold thing for them to put out, like a list. Lists are subjective. I don’t know who was behind the list, like did my mom vote?… I knew there was the top 5 and I was grateful to be in the top 5 with these amazing athletes. I, for sure thought Charlotte was going to be number 1. That’s where I put her.”
As you would expect, she described the moment as an emotional one which took her back to her wrestling days.
Stratus was really leading the female division before the Women’s Revolution in WWE and deserves to be #1 ahead of Charlotte and Becky Lynch, who finished third.
Her appearances on the show reduced by the second half of 2000s but she has still made appearances on the show recently, with the most recent one being against Charlotte at SummerSlam 2019.
