WrestleMania 37 has some incredible matches but two of them don’t seem to be working for Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray
Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca don’t mince their words when they find something they don’t like in the wrestling business.
The pair have made The Busted Open podcast one of the best shows on wrestling, alongside Ryan McKinnell, Tommy Dreamer, Mark Henry and a slew of producers and guests.
With WrestleMania just around the corner, the pair were speaking about one match that they both wanted to see, and it wasn’t on the Mania card.
LaGreca and Ray heaped praise on Walter vs Tommaso Ciampa, which was going to feature on TakeOver: Stand and Deliver.
This was a match that came out of the blue but the pair of LaGreca and Ray heaped a ton of praise on WWE over how they made this rivalry.
This also got LaGreca upset over Asuka vs Rhea Ripley:
“They did it in a way, like you said, the match you are most looking forward to at WrestleMania week.
“That is why it is so frustrating when it comes to Rhea Ripley and Asuka. You explained it perfectly on Tuesday, there is a 100 different ways you can get to the match instead of Rhea Ripley picking up a microphone and saying, ‘You know what Asuka? I am challenging you to a WrestleMania match’, that is just lazy.”
Ripley made her debut on Raw and challenged Asuka for a title match, and well, WWE set it up.
There was no story, no background, nothing at all.
LaGreca didn’t like this one bit and joked that you could just call for a match and it would be provided:
“I will challenge the 24/7 champion. All you have to do is just show up and ask for it.”
The pair claimed that this was lazy booking from WWE while Ray suggested that WWE were arrogant and believed people would want WrestleMania simply because it is WrestleMania.
The other match that the pair spoke about was Bianca Belair vs Sasha Banks. Belair had to earn her title shot and won the Royal Rumble before challenging Banks for the gold.
However, LaGreca brought up the tag team of Banks and Belair being made which made no sense at all:
“Even with Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks, they told us a story that to me was completely useless and terrible.
“Putting them together as a tag team and have them go after the tag team championship, how can that make any kind of logical sense on the road to WrestleMania?”
Belair and Banks failed to win the title from Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, but it created more problems between them.
LaGreca and Ray are right in their criticism of both matches. Ripley got her shot from nowhere while Belair and Banks teaming up was just plain weird.
