Colby Covington meets WWE legend and fellow heel Ric Flair
UFC star Colby Covington recently posted a picture of himself with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair on his official Twitter handle where he was seen shaking hands with ‘The Nature Boy’ and praising Flair with some words.
‘Chaos’ tweeted:
“His shoes cost more than your house!! Great seeing THE MAN @RicFlairNatrBoy!!!”
Covington also had a similar experience in his career, like Flair. He embraced a villainous persona and turned heel in his UFC career. He turned his image around after defeating Demian Maia in Brazil back in 2017 at UFC Fight Night 119. He even attracted the crowd in attendance to the Brazilians.
Flair also started his run in the WWE by being a “baby face”, but then as his career progressed, he became heel numerous times, mainly when he co-created ‘The Evolution’, which consisted of Triple H and Batista.
Colby Covington has used the reference of Ric Flair numerous times
Covington appeared on different podcasts and stated that he was on a ‘Ric Flair diet’. They both are two of the most popular heels in their respective sports and have been compared to each other numerous times on media.
Covington was quoted saying:
“I’m on a Ric Flair diet, man. Limousines, fast cars, lifting weights and f***ing girls! I’m the bad guy, the supervillain, but this is real life. Supervillains and bad guys win in real life. The guys at the gym, they really took it personally. I kind of got cut off from the Brazilians at the American Top Team Gym, and they don’t train with me anymore.” [via Sportskeeda]
