Aleister Black made a return as a sinister character on WWE SmackDown
There was a huge surprise on WWE SmackDown recently with Aleister Black making his return. The former NXT star had been missing for the good part of a year and many had thought he was on his way out.
Zelina Vega, his wife, had already been released by WWE and Black was nowhere to be seen since then. However, fans were in for a huge surprise as Black not only had a vignette, he was also given a new character.
The Dutch star spoke about dragons and how he was taught to be one, and this was quite a spooky clipping.
The character fits Black perfectly and Mark Henry spoke about this during the Busted Open podcast.
Ryan McKinnell added that Black was one of the best in WWE and this reveal was something special as well. Henry, for his part, compared this to The Undertaker and a few other WWE greats from the yesteryears:
“It was Undertaker like, it was Gangrel from The Brood like.
“It had that element of Rey Mysterio bouncing from underneath the ring on the trampoline thing or the slingshot or whatever it was.”
Henry added that this provided something special for SmackDown and he was looking forward to it. However, he also hoped that Black would come out with his old entrance music.
Aleister Black is a special talent
Most WWE fans, especially the ones from NXT, would know how talented Black is. However, WWE just weren’t able to give him the right push when he made it to the main roster.
There were several incredible battles with Murphy, but WWE have messed up the Aussie’s character too.
Henry didn’t have any doubts over Black and praised the Dutchman too:
“Not only is he a special talent, he has a unique skill-set. This is a guy who can strike and hit you from anywhere. He is athletic, looks apart, looks like a very evil bad man. I always thought that that was his destiny, [to] join the dark side.”
It will be interesting to see how WWE develops this character. They haven’t had someone who is one with the dark side, but this could be a genius move if they play it right.
